The worldwide appeal of La Manga Club as a holiday destination has received a ringing new endorsement after the top Spanish resort was shortlisted for no fewer than eight top global travel honours later this year.

The iconic sports and leisure venue in Murcia, south-east Spain, is eyeing a period of unprecedented success after being nominated for five leading accolades at the 2020 World Travel Awards and a further three at the 2020 World Golf Awards.

La Manga Club is one of the leading contenders to be named as ‘Europe’s Leading Luxury Resort & Villas’ for the fourth year in a row when the 2020 winners are announced at the World Travel Awards Europe Gala Ceremony in Antalya, Turkey, on June 20.

The resort is in the running to be named as ‘Europe’s Leading Sports Resort’ for the third successive year, while it is also in contention to be voted as ‘Europe’s Leading Sports Academy’, ‘Europe’s Leading Villa Resort’ and ‘Spain’s Leading Sports Resort’.

And there could be further cause for La Manga Club to celebrate this autumn when the 2020 World Golf Awards take place in Dubai in October.

In addition to the resort’s five-star Hotel Principe Felipe being nominated for the title of ‘Spain’s Best Golf Hotel’, La Manga Club has high hopes of being named as ‘Europe’s Best Golf Venue’ for the third time in its history and also for its South Course winning the award for ‘Spain’s Best Golf Course’.

The World Travel Awards are recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire. Voting for the Europe region is open until May 10.

Being held this year for the seventh time, the World Golf Awards have quickly risen to be regarded as the most prestigious awards programme in the golf tourism industry and will take place in Dubai from October 28-30.
