STAYCATIONS ON RISE AS 2019 PRICES ARE HELD AT GOLF RESORTS
Recent travel industry reports have suggested a palpable increase in the number of ‘staycation’ holidays in 2019 – and that’s also the experience of the Almarose-managed golf resort group.
The seven-strong group has shown a year-on-year increase in the number of stay-and-play bookings from UK customers with two resorts experiencing double-digit growth. Oulton Hall, in Leeds, has witnessed growth of 15 per cent, while Dunston Hall, near Norwich, is not far behind with an increase in bookings of 13 per cent compared with the same time in 2018.
And, the company believes, at a time of great uncertainty, the trend is likely to continue into next year, especially as it is now offering 2020 golf breaks at 2019 prices, if booked before October 31.
The seven resorts – Belton Woods, and DoubleTree by Hilton Forest Pines Spa & Golf Resort, both in Lincolnshire; Dunston Hall; Oulton Hall; Slaley Hall, in Northumberland; Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, in Shropshire; and, in Scotland, DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort – offer one night’s dinner, bed and breakfast, plus 36 holes of golf, from just £79pp. And two-night breaks are available from as little as £135 …
What’s more, every golfer will receive a £10 voucher to be spent at the resort, with an additional 20 per cent discount on all drinks (drinks offer is not available at DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort).
Golf groups looking to take advantage of the low prices can also benefit from a generous package which sees one golfer in 12 go free at five of the resorts, while it’s one in 16 at the two Lincolnshire venues.
Alan Foley, Almarose’s director of spa and golf sales, explained: “There is a lot of uncertainty currently for people looking to book golf breaks. The pound is fluctuating and there’s no guarantee of getting the same value when travelling abroad in 2020 as one has experienced previously.
“Staying in the UK offers peace of mind when it comes to value for money and to make it a little easier on the wallet Almarose has elected to keep its prices at 2019 rates until the expiry of Boris Johnson’s Brexit deadline on October 31. You’d be hard pressed to find a better deal that that anywhere.”
Almarose is one of the UK’s leading independent hotel management companies, managing a diverse collection of 25 branded and private-label hotel properties.
