Warren Ladies Golf Club – Pink Day

Warren Ladies Golf Club, Grove Road, Wallasey have raised £600 for Clatterbridge Hospital and Breast Cancer Care at their annual Pink Day which was held on Thursday 11th October.
The annual event is organised by club member Joan McGowan, ably assisted by club president Cathy Ryder. Some of the ladies, sadly, have had first-hand experience of breast cancer and of course, there is the possibility that other members may experience this in the future.
The money is raised by an “entry fee” to play 18 holes or 9 holes of golf, followed by Afternoon Tea. There is a tombola and a raffle in which all the prizes are pink. In addition, there is the Captain’s bunker so all balls that land there are subject to a “fine”. All golfers, guests and helpers are encouraged to wear pink too.
Regular guests, travel from Bowring Park, Eastham Lodge, Hooton, Sutton Hall, Wallasey and West Derby Golf Clubs to support the Warren’s efforts and this year the event had 30 entrants.
Generous local companies donate tombola and raffle prizes every year, including Eye Works, Upton, Steve Thomas PGA, Prenton Driving Range, Wirral Evolutions and Neil Price from Wirral Leisure Services.
This year the club had a new benefactor, (their Past Captain, Pat Tunstall’s daughter), Sue Abel-Beswick who donated £100 through her company I-Paye. Congratulations to the two ladies who won the 18 hole Greensomes golf competition. They each won a pink watch!
Warren Ladies wish to take this opportunity to thank all golfers, benefactors, helpers and donors for their very generous contributions and support. We couldn’t do it without you all!
