Club overview
Originally designed by Harry Vardon, Abersoch Golf Club was founded on Boxing Day 1907 with the course opening in 1908. A mixture of traditional links and parkland the course has evolved into a challenging and scenic 18 hole, par 69. Harry Vardon is famously quoted as saying
“Don’t play too much golf, two rounds a day is plenty.” He is also famous for advocating less haste around a course – “The record time for playing a round in the shortest time possible…is not worth holding” and certainly taking in the stunning scenery around Abersoch is time worth taking, without unduly holding up play of course!
If you can score well on holes 2,3,7,11 and 17 then you should have a great card, although the other holes can offer up a real challenge too. Whatever your score, just take a moment to reflect on the views from the 3,5,7,14 and 16thtees, they will enhance your golf round.
Finally a short iron to the green on the final hole a drink in the friendly clubhouse and your day will be complete.
Described by some visitors as “The Friendliest Golf Course in Wales” “A Jewel on the Welsh Riviera” and “Fantastic Golf Course, Stunning Views” the golf club at Abersoch is one to put on your North Wales golfing list. Offering a challenging mix of 18 holes on traditional links and parkland, the course is a must for golfers of all abilities.
Take for example the signature 246 yard par 3, 3rd hole with elevated tee and panoramic views requiring an accurate drive downhill over both gorse and a water hazard to a sloping green with a bunker waiting at the back. Follow that with links holes hugging the coastline and contoured over a century ago through huge, natural sand dunes, accuracy is key here as wayward drives can be punished.
After your golf, settle into the welcoming clubhouse and have a couple of drinks on the patio area, along with a bite to eat. The renowned Abersoch nightlife then awaits with bars and restaurants to suit tastes.

Golfer reviews
“One of those courses where the setting does half the job. Views over the peninsula are brilliant and the course itself is a good challenge without being unfair. Well maintained and a friendly club. If you’re in Abersoch it’s a no-brainer.”
“Played early November and the course was probably the best maintained course I have been on during winter months. Fairways had bounce and roll (not a splat unless you were really unlucky) despite the rainfall in recent months. The greens were a pleasure to putt on and were quite quick. Friendly and helpful staff in the pro shop and the ladies catering in the clubhouse later were top hosts. A really enjoyable day out and the price is very reasonable, A definite recommendation from me.”
“My friends and I had the absolute pleasure of playing this wonderful golf course at the weekend. The welcome that we received from the professional and bar/catering staff was even more exceptional. A wonderful experience I could strongly recommend that you play here.”
