“Wow. Had the pleasure of playing this fabulous course after a trip to the Open this summer. To the uninitiated, this is a Harry Colt (best known for his work at Royal Portrush) designed course, consistently listed within the top 50 ranked courses on the island of Ireland. Having never played the course before, I was working off this ranking and designer heritage - I was blown away with the glorious flowing fairways, true greens and top notch bunkers (threw a ball into the greenside 17th to test, having somehow avoided them all throughout the round!). Beautiful mature trees dot the course, but in a good way - lots of older courses can be quite hemmed - this course has a lovely mixture of challenges - swales, elevated greens and some well-guarded greens. The cherry on top was the Guinness and steak sandwich on the awesome clubhouse balcony where you can play the course over in your mind one last time.
