Clitheroe Golf Club, Whalley Road, Clitheroe, United Kingdom
About the club
Clitheroe Golf Club was formed in November 1891 and moved to its present site in 1932. The generosity of the Southworth family made possible the erection of a fine imposing clubhouse building, as well as the establishment of a full 18 hole golf course rather than the 9 holes originally planned.
Other facilities include a fully operational halfway house situated behind the 9th green , a recently completed starters' hut and the Southworth room, a modern conference and meeting room venue overlooking the course. This room houses the Club’s extensive collection of artefacts and a pictorial library of the history of Clitheroe Golf Club.
The club's appetite to be one of the best parkland courses in the North West has seen over recent years all 18 greens being re-modelled and re-built to USGA standards offering members and vistors the best of playing conditions all year round, with future plans to develop a short game academy and practice facility, confirming Clitheroe Golf Club as one of the region's leading golf courses.

Golfer reviews
“I visited today and I must say everything about the clubhouse, course and facilities is first class. The course was in great condition and the greens were superb. The food offering was good value filling and tasty.”
“Where to start on my review, played a practice round on Sunday 22nd June ready for an England Golf Event on Wednesday 25th of June with our Captain and 2 Ex-Captains from Berrington Hall Golf Club. Course was in excellent condition, Tees in great condition, Greens, not sure I even seen a pitch mark on them, hugely worth a visit and worth the fee, then after, the food was excellent and good atmosphere in the Clubhouse. Well Done Greenstaff, Bar Staff, Pro Shop, Club Secretary, we even talked about being Country, Away Members. 45 Minute journey but well worth it 👏👏”
“I've lived in Clitheroe over 50 years and never visited Clitheroe Golf Club until we attended a funeral wake. The function room is lovely and a good space with great views over the golf course. The catering team were asked to cater for my and my husband's vegan dietary requirement and I must admit I did not have high hopes. However we were totally impressed as they produced a fabulous vegan platter each. We had vegan cheese sandwiches, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, houmous and crudites, vegan quiche, chick'n tenders and a vegan chocolate cake. Our platters were delicious and it was fabulous they thought to put together food comparable with what everyone else had. If we ever need a function room for anything we will certainly use Clitheroe Golf Club and recommend to family and friends.”
