“A beautiful golf course with a historic & welcoming club and staff. I played a corporate event here in poor weather, but all aspects of the course played like summer. The staff are superb! I had realised I had left my shoes in the changing room after leaving. The staff quickly found and posted them out to me - representing a really wonderful team!”

“Premium Experience from the First Turn From the moment you turn onto the drive, it’s clear you’re arriving at a premium golf club. The course is beautifully laid out and easy to navigate—unlike some, such as Woburn, where orientation can be a challenge. Pro Mark was exceptionally welcoming and went above and beyond to assist us. It’s obvious he’s genuinely passionate about the course, and that care is reflected in the condition and thoughtful details throughout. The greens are outstanding—true, consistent, and a real pleasure to putt on. Impressively, the club boasts three separate putting greens, including a small one beside the 10th tee for those waiting to play. These little touches really elevate the experience, but my personal favourite—being fair-skinned—was the complimentary sun cream dispensers in the changing rooms. Speaking of which, the changing rooms themselves are bright, spacious, and airy—a welcome contrast to the darker, more enclosed feel at places like Harleyford. The bunkers (where I spent more time than I’d care to admit) were in excellent condition, but it was the tee boxes that truly stood out. They were immaculate—level, clean, and clearly maintained daily. Someone is clearly taking pride in ensuring every divot is filled and repaired. If only every club did the same. The one downside? The constant drone of helicopters and light aircraft taking off from the nearby airfield—every 10 minutes or so, all day long, directly overhead. It doesn’t ruin the round, but it certainly breaks the peace you'd expect at a course of this calibre. On a brighter note, the bar and food offer fantastic value. A full English breakfast was just £10, though oddly, it didn’t come with toast—which felt like a strange omission for a breakfast plate. “Beautiful golf club, wonderful staff. Guinness was fantastic. Guinness was so good I forgot about the terrible round of golf our group played and started to like my friends again! Lovely front nine, even better back nine! Would highly recommend playing if you get the chance.”
