“I visited Dundonald Links with 12 friends for a two-night stay and two rounds of golf. Everything was 10 out of 10, and we really enjoyed every aspect of it. My only issue, which ran through the entire venue, including the golf shop, reception, restaurant and bar, was that depending on who you spoke to, they refused to split bills, or should I say, let us pay separately. We were not asking them to work anything out, but when you get a bill for, say, £600 from the restaurant and we say we will pay £50 each, that is pretty simple for them to do. The server said they were not able to take payments separately. I saw that they had the same till system as the restaurants I own and quietly reminded him that this was not true, and he eventually did it for us. The same thing happened at reception, where we all owed £90 for a round somewhere else. They kept asking us to pay, but when we offered, they said no, it had to be paid on one card. No one was willing to put £1,080 on a card when we could all just pay separately. This was only settled on our final day when we were asked for the money again and I said, “We have tried to pay...” This time, the lady said paying separately was fine, and it was done in five minutes. Finally, we got six golf carts for 12 people. On the first day, we paid £25 each. It was simple and there were no problems. On our second day, the guy in the golf shop refused to let us pay separately. Again, why would one person pay for 12 people, eight of whom would not even be playing with them? He then negotiated it down to allowing us to pay per cart, but not individually. Again, this is just wild to me. We appreciate that putting through extra transactions takes time, but in what world would one person pay for 12 people over an entire weekend? That person would be owed several thousand pounds by his friends. The fact that they could do it just showed me that it was more laziness than policy. Only a small issue in what was otherwise a great weekend!”
“Challenging but fun golf course in great condition, luxury golf at it's finest. We stayed in a 4 bed Lodge on site which had everything you need and more, perfect for a golf trip. All the staff on site were fantastic, warm, friendly and full of Scottish charm. We'll definitely visit again and use the lodges as a base to play some other nearby courses.”
“What a wonderful place to play golf. The experience feo. Turning up is fantastic. The welcome is warm and informative. The staff were friendly and nice. The starter was a really good guy. You get full use of the facilities from unlimited balls on the grass range and short game practice area to the steam and sauna rooms. The course is in fantastic condition and each hole has its own personality with quite a few stand out holes.”
