“Playing in Durness has been one of the most exciting experiences playing golf and I’ve played a lot of fantastic courses. When we arrived (middle/end of August 2024) it was a beautiful albeit extremely windy day. The guy at the clubhouse, who was super friendly, was worried for us playing since the winds were so strong and when we arrived another player had just given up after the first hole. He recommended we take a buggy which turned out to be a life saver. We bought some merch (unfortunately a lot of the things I wanted to buy were sold out, which is a pity since I would’ve liked to buy more to remember this day by) and off we went. The course itself is absolutely stunning, the views are fantastic, and the holes are quite challenging, mostly because of the wind. Once we got up the hill during the first hole, the wind was so strong that I had trouble breathing. It took me five minutes to put on my jacket, my hat flew away and I had to chase it, I don’t think I’ve ever lost so many balls due to the high grass (the grass must not be cut due to the wildflowers growing within) and the ball rolled away most of the times due to the wind. The eighth hole was breathtaking, you play straight towards the sea. The green keeping is immaculate, the surroundings are breathtaking and I’m ecstatic to have been able to play here.
