“Enniscrone Golf Club is the kind of place that makes you question whether golf course architects actually design anything at all, or if they simply wander into the Irish wilderness, stare at the dunes, and wisely decide not to interfere. Tucked along the Atlantic coast in County Sligo, Enniscrone feels less like a golf course and more like a beautiful act of rebellion. The dunes are enormous, the views are ridiculous, and the landscape has the kind of raw personality that laughs at anything resembling a normal round of golf. The first few holes lull you into a false sense of confidence, like Ireland is politely introducing itself before revealing what it has been hiding. Then the back nine arrives, and suddenly you are navigating a world of towering sand dunes, blind shots, dramatic elevation changes, and ocean views that make you forget you are supposed to be keeping score. The course doesn't beat you up; it simply reminds you that the Atlantic has been shaping this land for thousands of years and your 7-iron is not exactly going to win that argument. What makes Enniscrone special is that it never feels manufactured. There are no gimmicks, no artificial drama, no desperate attempts to create a "signature hole." The drama was already there. The golf course simply found a way to weave through it. Every hole feels like it belongs exactly where it is, as if the dunes were waiting patiently for someone to come along and put a flag in the ground. The staff, the setting, and the entire experience are everything you hope for from Irish links golf. Enniscrone is wild, beautiful, unpredictable, and completely unforgettable. It is the type of course that stays with you long after the scorecard has been buried somewhere in your travel bag, and the type of place that makes you start planning your return before you have even left the parking lot. Five stars without hesitation.”
“Possibly my favourite course in the country. You will not leave here without at least 1 lasting feature memory from every hole. Great staff and just an absolute joy to play”
“Amazing golf course, some great holes. Lovely fairways, even on wet days, but quite unforgiving roughs for high handicappers. Bring extra balls and you’ll love the round, while savouring the spectacular views from various tee boxes, over the estuary & seaside beaches.”
