Little Aston has a reputation as one of the UK’s finest inland courses. Voted number 41 in England by Golf World in 2015, the course also boasts the position of highest placed parkland course in those rankings.
The course was designed in 1908 by 6-time Open Champion Harry Vardon and later re-modelled by Harry Colt. There have of course been minor alterations since then but the main features remain with the exception of the 17th hole where the green in 2006 was moved into the lake.
The course measures 6813 yards, an ideal length for a course that caters for golfers of varying degrees of proficiency. The holes are sporting and call for all kinds of play and the greens, are, in normal conditions, almost perfect. There are a fair proportion of good two shot holes, several drive and pitch holes and three one shot holes, a combination of ingredients which make for ideal golf.
The Club has over the years hosted many major tournaments both Amateur and Professional. These include the English Amateur, the Brabazon Trophy and British Boys Championships, the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship, the English Ladies Amateur and Strokeplay Championships and the Dunlop Masters Professional Tournament.
In recent years, Little Aston was a host venue for The Open Regional Qualifying Series 2013-17, the LGU Ladies Home Internationals in 2017 and the 2018 PGA Club Professional Championship.
Although a traditional members Club, Little Aston extends a warm welcome to Societies and Visitors throughout the year.

“A perfect day at Little Aston Golf Club started with the best welcome I have ever had (I have played ~30 of the UK top 100), so big thanks to Dan. The club house is charming and proper, class, traditional, but modern and all staff and members were friendly. The putting green is a delight and the course a real test, a real challenge, with bunkers galore and great greens. I cannot recommend a visit more, worth the green fee.”
“I'm sure they know this already, but the course design is absolutely wonderful. Really thoughtful design, the course will punish you but when it does, it is always fair and down to user error. (many courses you can play good shots and still be punished, this is important to me as I am bad as it is!) The course was in stunning shape, the bunkers were excellent and the greens were challenging but consistent, so again, tough but fair design. Just as importantly, the clubhouse was fantastic and everybody that we spoke to (members/club pro etc.) was lovely, friendly and helpful. Pace of pay was no issue, although it has to be said we did play whilst the course was relatively quiet. For transparency, it can be an expensive course to play, but does not lose points for that as you know that in advance of playing so it's no surprise to try to catch anybody out. I had a really enjoyable afternoon and would recommend playing here to whoever is able to.”
“Had a superb day out at Little Aston a couple of weeks ago, this was the second time I have played this superbly presented course. It was good last year but they have stepped up a gear, the bunkering is really special, making you think on very tee shot. For me the 17th hole is a standout. If you get the opportunity play it, you will not be disappointed.”
