“Played this course for the first time in the Handicap Open on Sat 25th July. Initial impressions were good, as it was clearly very busy but the overflow carpark made parking reasonably close easy. The clubhouse looks fairly impressive from the carpark despite being the back of the building. We ventured into the pro shop at first to check in, however were advised that check in was in the clubhouse itself. The staff in the pro shop were not rude but weren't exactly inviting at the same time. Once inside the clubhouse its a quirky mix of old and new. The bar is quite cramped and dark but the seating area is open and very bright with a nice view of the course. All the staff inside the clubhouse were very friendly. The locker room is very impressive and had ample space to get ready to head out onto the course where we were met at the 1st tee by the Pro. This time around he was very friendly and offered us some advice for getting round and what to expect. The course itself is quite interesting as it has no par 5's but a good mix of varied length par 3's and 4's. As you would expect the course was fairly burnt out by the summer weather but this for me made it all the better. It felt like a true links challenge. There are bunkers everywhere and the sand in them was exceptional to play from. The greens were the biggest surprise to me. They didn't look to be in the best of condition despite being much greener than the rest of the course. That said they rolled reasonably quick and very true. They were also standing up very well to the volume of foot traffic on the day. There were a few areas of the course which were damaged from badgers but they were clearly marked with white paint and treated as GUR. Overall, this was a magic day out with a couple of mates. The course provides a real challenge for any level of golfer whilst still remaining fair. I wouldn't class it as a traditional links simply down to the number of trees however I think it adds to the experience. I can't wait to go back and hopefully improve what was an ok score on a really challenging golf course. Highly recommend”
“This is always fun to play… A great links which is sometimes missed off due to having very high calibre neighbours. But it’s well worth stopping in. Nice club, good people, simple and friendly. The course was in brilliant condition too, early May 2026.”
“Absolute gem of a course. Interesting and varied holes. Greens are not quick but they roll true. We played without wind but I can imagine the long finishing 17 and 18 being brutal par 4s when played in strong wind. Club house is charming, food good and service impeccable and friendly Really appreciated that the person in the pro shop took his time to welcome us, explain about the golf course and how we were getting on. Highly recommended!”
