Club overview
Mapperley is a beautiful parkland course only four miles from the centre of Nottingham. Our rolling fairways have, for more than a century, presented the golfer with an interesting challenge from the tee, and our quick, true greens are a fine test.
Mapperley is a relaxed and friendly club, so stay a while, take in the stunning views of Gedling Country Park and all the way across to the Vale of Belvoir from our comfortable bar and restaurant, and make sure you visit our well-stocked pro shop.
As a members' club, Mapperley has plenty to offer; weekly competitions all year round, a full social programme, easy course access with no pre-booking and free practice facilities.
The club was founded in the early 1900's. Named ‘St. Andrews Institute Golf Club'. In 1909 St. Andrews paid its first subscription of £1.00 to the Notts. Union of Golf Clubs. In about 1924 the Club was taken over by the Y.M.C.A and became the ‘Morley House Y.M.C.A Golf Club'. All progressed smoothly until 1931 when it was reported that because members wished to play golf on Sundays, the Golf Club should secede from the Y.M.C.A.
In 1932 Mapperley Golf Club was established. The original course was 9-holes. Fences were required around the greens to keep the cattle off, which grazed on the course. The club badge was designed with that in mind. In 1983 the new 18 hole Golf Course was opened by Neil MacFarlane MP, Minister for Sport. The design of the course was by golf pro' John Mason. Since that time, there has been a continual investment programme, involving improvements to both the Clubhouse and the Golf Course.
Before and after your round, please remember to visit our clubhouse which offers a Restaurant and 2 Bars with a range of food available.
