“Narin & Portnoo Links is one of the most spectacular, atmospheric, and photogenic hidden gems in Ireland, now being rediscovered by top-tier golf travelers. The extensive renovation by the renowned American architect Gil Hanse has truly elevated this historic course into the premier global league. The design is nothing short of phenomenal—Hanse has seamlessly blurred the lines between impeccable golf architecture and the wild, pristine nature of the Donegal coast. The entire round winds through massive dunes, but the ultimate visual and emotional highlight is the stretch from the 7th to the 16th hole. Here, the fairways are carved literally along the edge of the white sandy beach and rocky cliffs. The crashing Atlantic waves and the stunning, shifting colors of the ocean are mesmerizing—it is for these exact views and emotions that we play golf! From a playing perspective, the course demands absolute concentration and creative shot-making. It features massive, rugged blow-out bunkers and highly complex, firm greens with dramatic elevation changes and subtle slopes. The wind off Gweebarra Bay keeps you constantly on your toes, forcing you to abandon high ball flights in favor of classic low, rolling shots. It brilliantly rewards smart, strategic course management. The conditioning of the course, the practice facilities, and the hospitality in the clubhouse are all top-notch. If you are planning a golf tour in Ireland, Narin & Portnoo is an absolute must-play. A true masterpiece that leaves you with memories for a lifetime!”
“What an experience. From start to finish we had a super day. We played here mid April, in what could only be described as "challenging conditions" but we had an unbelievable time. Noleen ( hopefully I've remembered your name correctly) was exactly the sort of warm welcome you'd want from a course pro shop. The ship itself is well stocked with lots of nice N&P branded gear at a range of prices. The course is a super challenge requiring a range of shots and shot types. The wind made things extra challenging but at no point took away from our enjoyment. Afterwards we ate in the clubhouse. The food was outstanding and the set menu excellent value. From start to finish this was a super experience and exceed the high expectations we already had for the place. Can't wait to come back.”
“Had a fantastic experience at Narin & Portnoo Links last weekend. The club with Sales Manager Shaun Fahey went above and beyond hosting a scramble for 27 visiting clubs, topped off with a superb complimentary meal — a real touch of class and hospitality. The course itself is simply stunning. The greens were fantastic — running true and a joy to putt on all day. The course is unforgettable — a brilliant mix of holes that weave through the dunes and then suddenly bring you right back towards the Atlantic. The seaside stretch is as good as it gets, with holes playing alongside the coastline, constantly changing wind, and views that are genuinely breathtaking. It’s a course that keeps you thinking, with great variety in length and design throughout the closing holes. A proper links experience — natural, fun, and full of character. We’ll definitely be back.
