Club overview
Hollinwell is renowned as one of the UK’s finest inland courses and was a well kept golfing secret. Now the word is gradually spreading and more and more golfers are discovering the joys of this stunning heathland course.
Set in the gently rolling hills of North Nottinghamshire in the heart of Robin Hood Country, only 10 minutes from the M1 J27, Hollinwell is more than just a beautiful, varied golf course.
The Official Ecologist to The R&A Championship Committee recently said “Notts Golf Club is one of the premier nature conservation sites within the UK, it is every bit a nature reserve as it is a golf course and indeed is well known for its nature conservation interests UK wide.”
Currently ranked as the UK’s 40th best course by Golf World Top 100 and by National Club Golfer as an England Top 20 course, the club continues with the widely acclaimed course and environmental improvements accomplished over recent years and may well rise further up the rankings.
Visitors receive a warm welcome at Hollinwell from proud staff and members and can also experience the fabulous championship course in it’s natural setting and a clubhouse with panoramic views over a course which is playable all year round with some of the best winter greens to be found.
Hollinwell really is well worth any journey there and no wonder Notts GC Professional Mike Bradley challenges anyone to find a better inland course anywhere in Britain.
Hollinwell has hosted many prestigious tournaments over its long history including Final Qualifying for The Open in 2017 and 2018, the Brabazon Trophy for the fifth time in 2015 and in 2012 the R&A British Boys Championship which was won Matthew Fitzpatrick.
Final Qualifying for The 148th Open at Royal Portrush will be held in July 2019. With top UK and International players competing hard to qualify for one of only 3 places available, it promises to be another fantastic day for spectators. Entry and parking is free.
To celebrate, Notts Hollinwell has launched a new open competition for visitors, available via the website in December 2018, called The Road To Portrush and the first prize for the winning pair is incredible – a free round on the Championship Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush Golf Club!

“Superb golf course. Very undulating heathland course in excellent condition. One of the best you will ever play.”
“Fantastic course, steady little pro shop with plenty of stock. Clubhouse is superb, view of the 18th fantastic to sit and watch the golfers coming in.”
“Absolutely stunning place - course and greens were in amazing condition, pro shop and club house staff were very welcoming and the scenery whilst you play is glorious. It's a tough track where the heather will punish wayward shots, but not overly long so (if only I could putt!) birdie opportunities are there to be had.”
