About the club
Renowned as one of the finest layouts in the North of England, we maintain an enviable reputation as a magnificent championship-standard golf course, both visually stunning and challenging throughout the year. With off-course facilities to match we work hard to ensure you enjoy your Stockport Golf Club experience.
Founded in 1905 and designed by the former Open Champion Sandy Herd, our beautiful course comprises 18 contrasting holes played through picturesque tree lined parkland. It is a testament to its quality that we have hosted The Open Regional Qualifier as well as many other prestigious events in recent years, including the world amateur ranking Stockport Salver (part of the Cheshire Cat Tournament).
We also have a well deserved reputation for exceptional catering and hospitality, and the Club offers a very special and warm welcome to all. Whether a first time or returning visitor or member’s guest, playing in a society or corporate event, in an open competition or club match, we want to exceed your expectations. Stockport is without doubt one of the premier clubs in the North West of England and is proud to be one of the region’s golfing jewels.

The current course record is 64, held by our own David Peel since 2011. Throughout its history, the course has been remodelled a number of times and record holders (both amateur and professional) have included:

“I took both of my grandsons aged 7 and 10 for a private lesson with Callum at Stockport Golf Club. The 10 year old has had group lessons with Callum on Saturday morning. The 7 year old not any experience. The lesson took place indoors on a simulator with video analysis. Callum is so engaging. The boys retained interest and were focused throughout. As a grandmother who played golf but who is no longer able to this was the best experience I could have had. Callum shared the videos of the boys with me. He is cool he interacts in a calm and amusing manner with an encouraging reaction. Fabulous experience for the boys and me.”
