“This golf course has stunning views and a variety of challenges. Set between the small town of North Berwick and the sea. In the weekends it feels quite busy with surfers, people walking their dog and people on other flights so you need to be aware when hitting your shots. But all in all beautiful and a really good and interesting golf course.”

“My brother and I teed off at North Berwick in March with a 40-mile-an-hour northerly straight in our faces. I'd dreamed about this round longer than I'd admit to anyone who isn't a golfer. The course is old in a way you feel through your spikes. Every hole asks something different. You play a knockdown into one green, a bump-and-run into the next, then the layout turns and the wind hits you from somewhere new. We used everything we had. Our scorecards were moderate. On a different day that might have bothered me. Everyone we met treated us like we'd been coming for decades. The starter, the players behind us, the staff. Open, warm, no ceremony about it. On the 15th, The Redan, I hit the kind of shot you play golf for. The one that keeps you booking the next round and the one after that. I probably won’t remember my score on the hole. I will remember the ball flight though. On 18, I stood on the tee box with my brother next to me, the town sitting behind the green, and 17 holes of wind and history behind us. I hit that tee shot and watched it longer than I needed to. My brother didn't say anything. He didn't have to. We didn't play well at North Berwick. We played golf. There's a difference, and this is the course that reminds you of it.”
