What a fantastic day at Sandiway Golf Club for another Golf Guide Tour event.
Sandiway once again showed exactly why it is such a popular stop on the Tour. A classic Cheshire parkland layout, the course was presented in excellent condition with firm but fair fairways, well-guarded greens, and just enough bite in the rough to keep everyone fully focused from the first tee to the last putt. Precision off the tee was rewarded, but as always at Sandiway, positioning into the greens proved absolutely key — especially on the more heavily bunkered approaches.
The greens themselves rolled beautifully throughout the day, offering a true test of touch and pace, particularly on the subtle breaks that can easily catch players out if concentration drops for even a moment. It was a course that asked plenty of questions, but also gave scoring opportunities to those who plotted their way around sensibly and took chances when they presented themselves.
