António Ferreira da Silva, golf sales director at Praia D’El Rey Marriott Golf & Beach Resort, said: “After all the problems of Covid, it’s fantastic to see the resort buzzing and our golf courses full again.
“The appetite for golfers to enjoy our facilities appears bigger than ever, and the great thing for us is to see so many bookings from golfers from new emerging markets eager to experience everything that we have to offer, especially our fantastic West Cliffs course.”
Set an hour north of Lisbon on Portugal’s stunning Silver Coast and featuring an array of world-class golf and leisure facilities, Praia D’El Rey is renowned as one of Europe’s elite golf resorts and features two 18-hole championship courses – the resort’s namesake layout and West Cliffs Golf Links.
The details
Few golf courses in the world have attracted as much attention and acclaim as West Cliffs since it opened five years ago. Designed by Cynthia Dye, the 6,382m, par-72 layout was created across 200 hectares of natural landscape, rolling sand dunes and coastal vegetation, and offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean from each hole.
Also ranked inside Europe’s top 30 courses, Praia D’El Rey’s 18-hole championship course – which was designed by Cabell Robinson – is set amidst a combination of extensive pine forests and undulating dunes and features spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlengas Islands beyond.
In addition to golf, Praia D’El Rey features an extensive array of world-class sports, leisure and accommodation facilities including a Marriott hotel, a wide selection of villas, a tennis academy, a luxury spa and health club and numerous watersports and restaurants.
Guests have a choice of five restaurants from which to choose, all serving the fresh and authentic produce for which Portugal is famous, while the comprehensive range of therapies and treatments on offer at the Kalyan Spa promise to restore energy and balance to the body after a day on the fairways.
* Praia D’El Rey is offering outstanding value to golfers booking a stay-and-play break in 2023, with four-night, three-round packages starting from €364 per person and seven-night, four-round deals available from €598 per person.
