La Cala Resort has been awarded a Bronze Flag at the 2026 59club Service Excellence Awards, an independent recognition of sustained operational standards across the full guest experience. The accolade is the result of one of the most rigorous independent evaluation processes in European golf and hospitality.
The awards, organised by 59club and held at the Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort, are based on structured mystery-shopping audits rather than peer nominations or public ballots. Properties are assessed against fixed criteria at every stage of the guest journey, from first enquiry through to post-visit follow-up communication. The process is designed to measure what is actually delivered, not what is claimed, and offers no opportunity for advance preparation or selective presentation.

La Cala’s Bronze Flag confirms consistently high standards across multiple guest touchpoints, a meaningful distinction in a process that applies uniform criteria to a wide pool of European resorts.
Sean Corte-Real, General Manager of La Cala Resort, said: "The credibility of 59club's process lies in its objectivity. It examines the reality of the guest experience rather than taking it on trust. Being nominated and receiving a Bronze Flag is a meaningful endorsement of the work our team puts in every day. What this evaluation measures - consistency, attention to detail, professionalism under real conditions - is exactly what we ask of ourselves."
The details
Located in the foothills of the Sierra de Mijas on the Costa del Sol, La Cala Resort features three championship golf courses and a recently refurbished 107-room hotel with spa and dining. The resort has long held that infrastructure sets the stage – but service is what defines the guest experience.
In a Mediterranean market where physical offerings between venues are increasingly similar, independently verified service standards carry real commercial weight – shaping repeat visits, reputation and long-term performance.
The Bronze Flag establishes a benchmark, confirmed under independent scrutiny, against which La Cala Resort will continue to measure its service standards.
