Ashley Harris, 61, who is both a club member and valued employee at Heyrose Golf Club, has played her way to the final of the Andrew Richardson Match Play competition in the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.
She has already excelled in qualifying for the decider in this mixed competition, winning four rounds of match-play golf against strong male opposition from across the north west including former champion Andrew Johnson in the quarter-finals.

Ashley, a 12 handicap golfer who has been at Heyrose Golf Club since 2021 after moving to Middlewich from Blackpool, also ended the hopes of four-handicapper Ryan Anderson in the semi-finals.
She will compete in the final at Abu Dhabi National Golf Course on January 26.
The details
Ashley will play against John Longley from Rotherham on a course that has been home to the European Tour HSBC tournament for 15 years.
The good news for Heyrose Golf Club’s women’s section does not end there, however. Ashley’s partner Lara Richbell, 57, a retail assistant and also a Heyrose member with a 9.3 handicap, fended off 17 other qualifiers to win the final of the Richardson Trophy at Hesketh Golf Club.
Her victory was sealed with 42 stableford points, 4fourpoints clear of the runner up. And Lara’s prize is a week’s golf in Abu Dhabi during the same week that Ashely will be there, so they will be enjoying a golfing break together.
